Первое: who – оно ТОЛЬКО для ЖИВЫХ! Зря, что ли, переводится как «кто»? Это всё, что вам нужно знать об этом слове. Даже про запятые забудьте напрочь!

(Человек, который живёт по соседству, мой закадычный друг).
Сonvive – собутыльник, очень кстати. А вот слово «закадычный» пошло от выражения «закладывать за кадык», если не знали.
Второе: which – для всего НЕЖИВОГО! И отставить дальнейшие мысли!

(Зомби, которых мне пришлось прикончить, были такими милыми)
Третье: that – в полной мере заменяет who и which вместе взятые почти всегда и почти везде.
- Have you seen those guys that were stumbling around naked in the park?
(Ты видел тех парней, что шатались по парку голыми?)
- The gun that you’d given failed me at a most undesirable moment.
(Пушка, что ты дал, подвела меня в самый неподходящий момент.)
Четвёртое: what – это вообще из другой песни! Оно, конечно, и переводится тоже как «что». Но вы же разумные люди, и разницу почувствуете сразу:
- Did you hear what they were talking about?
(Ты слышал, о чём они говорили?) Акцент именно на тех вещах, о которых они, собственно, и говорили.
Однако тут есть одна хитрость. В ситуации, когда речь идёт о цельной мысли, пользовать what преступно!
- She got married again last week, which surprised everybody.
(Она снова вышла замуж на прошлой неделе, что многих удивило.)
А вот пятое стоит отдельно-предельного внимания. Дело обстоит так.
Когда определяемое и так определено, ну там, именем, названием, конкретикой какой, то that уже не прокатит.
- The subscriber Alex, who likes ice cream, can’t stand naked zombies!
(Подписчик Алексей, который любит мороженое, терпеть не может голых зомби!)
И! Хотя многие англичане пунктуацию путают с пунктуальностью, мы ж с вами должны зарубить на собственном носе: в подобных предложениях определение выделяется запятыми!
- The Hamsters’ group, which you all adore, is the most awesome indeed!
(Хомячья группа, которой вы все восхищаетесь, и впрямь наикрутейшая!)
А с вами был и всегда буду я, Хомяк! Не переключайте канал!
