Master of Reality — третий студийный альбом британской рок-группы Black Sabbath, записанный продюсером Роджером Бэйном в студии Record Plant (Лос-Анджелес, Калифорния) и выпущенный 21 июля 1971 года. Незадолго до начала работы над альбомом гитарист Тони Айомми, игравший с наконечниками-протезами, на три полутона приспустил струны, чтобы ослабить нагрузку на травмированные пальцы. То же сделал бас-гитарист Гизер Батлер: так возникло новое, утяжеленное звучание, которое повлияло на многих музыкантов, ставших исполнять впоследствии stoner- и sludge-метал.
Основные темы альбома — религия, война, наркотики, отчужденность и одиночество. Но если в тексте «Hand Of Doom» (из альбома Paranoid) наркотики осуждались как социальное зло, то здесь «Sweet Leaf» — восторженный гимн марихуане. Две песни, имеющих отношение к Богу и религии — «After Forever» и «Lord of This World». «Children Of The Grave» продолжает антивоенную тему (начатую в «War Pigs»), а «Into The Void» (о переживших ядерную катастрофу людях, уносящихся на космических кораблях в космическую бездну прочь от опустошенной Земли) может считаться продолжением «Electric Funeral».
Песня «Sweet Leaf» имеет множество каверов. На треке «Solitude» Тони Айомми сыграл на флейте.

Master of Reality - the third studio album by British rock band Black Sabbath, written by Roger Bain producer in the Record Plant Studios (Los Angeles, CA) and released July 21, 1971. The album climbed to 5th place in the list of UK Album Charts and up to the 8th - the Billboard 200. In the list of 500 best albums of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, he takes 298 place.
Shortly before the start of work on the album, guitarist Tony Iommi, who played with tips, prostheses, three semitones string lowered to ease the burden on the injured fingers. The same did bassist Geezer Butler: because there was a new, weighted sound that influenced many musicians, who were to perform later stoner- and sludge-metal.
The main themes of the album - religion, war, drugs, alienation and loneliness. But if the text «Hand Of Doom» (from Paranoid album) drugs condemned as a social evil, there is «Sweet Leaf» - enthusiastic hymn marijuana. Two songs that have to do with God or religion - «After Forever» and «Lord of This World». «Children Of The Grave» continues the anti-war theme (begun in «War Pigs»), and «Into The Void» (about emerging nuclear catastrophe people, taking on the spacecraft in space chasm away from the devastated Earth) can be considered a continuation of «Electric Funeral» .
The song «Sweet Leaf» has a lot of covers. On the track «Solitude» Tony Iommi played the flute.
