Музыка Иосифа (Йозефа) Гайдна, слова Августа Генриха Гофмана фон Фаллерслебена.
Гофман фон Фаллерслебен сочинил свою «Песнь о Германии» на музыку знаменитого австрийского (что в пору его жизни означало одновременно и немецкого) композитора Иосифа (Йозефа) Гайдна (1752-1809), старейшего из «трех венских классиков» (Гайдн, Моцарт, Бетховен). Этот «Квартет Гайдна», посвященный австрийскому императору Францу I (являвшемуся одновременно последним императором «Священной Римской империи германской нации») – «Боже, храни Императора Франца» («Готт эргальте Франц ден Кайзер»)[426], стал настолько популярен, что превратился в государственный гимн Австрии – правда, под несколько измененным названием – «Боже, храни нам Императора» («Готт эргальте унс ден Кайзер»)[427], или (как можно прочитать, к примеру, в русском переводе «Похождений бравого солдата Швейка» Ярослава Гашека – «Храни нам, Боже, Государя»). Австрийский гимн на музыку Гайдна пережил исключение Австрии из Германского союза (после победы Пруссии в «австро-прусской», или, как говорят сами немцы, «немецко-немецкой» войне 1866 года) объединение Германии (уже без Австрии) под эгидой Пруссии в 1871 году, крушение монархии Габсбургов в 1918 году, и оставался гимном «Немецко-австрийской» (позднее – Австрийской) республики и австрофашистского «корпоративного (христианско-социального сословного) государства» Дольфуса-Шушгига, конец которому положил «аншлюс» (присоединение «австрофашистской» Австрии к национал-социалистическому Германскому рейху в результате плебисцита) в 1938 году, ознаменовавший собой появление на карте Европы «Великой Германии».
В самой Германии (Втором рейхе Гогенцоллернов) был свой, откровенно монархический, государственный гимн – «Слава тебе в победном венце»[429], текст и музыка которого были скопированы с британского «Боже, храни Короля (королеву)». Но «Песнь о Германии» пользовалась огромной популярностью, что позволило ей стать гимном «Веймарской республики» (1918-1933), Третьего рейха (1933-1945) и послевоенной Германии (ФРГ). Правда, в нынешней ФРГ, исходя из соображений пресловутой «политкорректности», исполняется только третья строфа «Песни о Германии» (причем начальные слова этой третьей строфы – «Единство, справедливость и свобода»[430] - заменили собой традиционную для германской армии надпись «С нами Бог»[431] на поясных бляхах военнослужащих современных вооруженных сил ФРГ - бундесвера), тогда как чины танкового корпуса «Великая Германия» и вошедших в состав последнего частей, подразделений и соединений, разумеется, исполняли все ее три строфы, от начала и до конца. Как читатели могут убедиться, текст «Песни о Германии» не содержит в себе ровным счетом ничего «человеконенавистнического» или «людоедского». Гимн Великобритании «Правь, Британия, морями» («Рул, Бритэн…»)[432] и гимн США «Звезды и полосы» («Старз энд Страйпс»)[433], не говоря уже о крайне воинственной французской «Марсельезе»[434] куда более агрессивны по содержанию и проникнуты «милитаристским духом».

Hoffmann von Fallersleben composed his "Song of Germany " to the music of the famous Austrian ( which at the time of his life meant both German ) composer Joseph ( Joseph ) Haydn ( 1752-1809 ) , the oldest of the "Three Viennese classics " (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven ) .
