А неверующие Иудеи возбудили и раздражили против братьев сердца язычников.
Впрочем они пробыли здесь довольно времени, смело действуя о Господе, Который, во свидетельство слову благодати Своей, творил руками их знамения и чудеса.
Между тем народ в городе разделился: и одни были на стороне Иудеев, а другие на стороне Апостолов.
Когда же язычники и Иудеи со своими начальниками устремились на них, чтобы посрамить и побить их камнями,
они, узнав о сем, удалились в Ликаонские города Листру и Дервию и в окрестности их,
и там благовествовали.
В Листре некоторый муж, не владевший ногами, сидел, будучи хром от чрева матери своей, и никогда не ходил.
Он слушал говорившего Павла, который, взглянув на него и увидев, что он имеет веру для получения исцеления,
сказал громким голосом: тебе говорю во имя Господа Иисуса Христа: стань на ноги твои прямо. И он тотчас вскочил и стал ходить.
Народ же, увидев, что сделал Павел, возвысил свой голос, говоря по-ликаонски: боги в образе человеческом сошли к нам.
И называли Варнаву Зевсом, а Павла Ермием, потому что он начальствовал в слове.
Жрец же идола Зевса, находившегося перед их городом, приведя к воротам волов и принеся венки, хотел вместе с народом совершить жертвоприношение.
Но Апостолы Варнава и Павел, услышав о сем, разодрали свои одежды и, бросившись в народ, громогласно говорили:
мужи! что вы это делаете? И мы подобные вам человеки, и благовествуем вам, чтобы вы обратились от сих ложных к Богу Живому, Который сотворил небо и землю, и море, и все, что в них,
Который в прошедших родах попустил всем народам ходить своими путями,
хотя и не переставал свидетельствовать о Себе благодеяниями, подавая нам с неба дожди и времена плодоносные и исполняя пищею и веселием сердца наши.
И, говоря сие, они едва убедили народ не приносить им жертвы и идти каждому домой. Между тем, как они, оставаясь там, учили,
из Антиохии и Иконии пришли некоторые Иудеи и, когда Апостолы смело проповедывали, убедили народ отстать от них, говоря: они не говорят ничего истинного, а все лгут. И, возбудив народ, побили Павла камнями и вытащили за город, почитая его умершим.
Когда же ученики собрались около него, он встал и пошел в город, а на другой день удалился с Варнавою в Дервию.
Проповедав Евангелие сему городу и приобретя довольно учеников, они обратно проходили Листру, Иконию и Антиохию,
утверждая души учеников, увещевая пребывать в вере и поучая, что многими скорбями надлежит нам войти в Царствие Божие.
Рукоположив же им пресвитеров к каждой церкви, они помолились с постом и предали их Господу, в Которого уверовали.
Потом, пройдя через Писидию, пришли в Памфилию,
и, проповедав слово Господне в Пергии, сошли в Атталию;
а оттуда отплыли в Антиохию, откуда были преданы благодати Божией на дело, которое и исполнили.
Прибыв туда и собрав церковь, они рассказали все, что сотворил Бог с ними и как Он отверз дверь веры язычникам.
И пребывали там немалое время с учениками.
In Iconium, they entered together into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great many Jews and Greeks believed.
And the unbelievers of Judea stirred and annoyed the heathen hearts of the brethren.
However, they stayed here for quite a while, bravely acting in the Lord, who, as a testimony to the word of His grace, worked with their hands signs and wonders.
Meanwhile, the people in the city divided: some were on the side of the Jews, and others were on the side of the Apostles.
When the pagans and the Jews with their leaders rushed upon them to shame and stone them,
they, having learned of this, retired to Lycra and the cities of Lystra and Derbe and in their neighborhood,
and there they preached the gospel.
In Lystra, a certain husband, who did not possess his feet, sat, being lame from his mother’s womb, and never walked.
He listened to Paul, who, looking at him and seeing that he had faith to receive healing,
said in a loud voice: I say to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: stand upright on your feet. And he immediately jumped up and began to walk.
But when the people saw what Paul had done, he raised his voice, speaking in a Lyonian language: the gods came down to us in the image of a man.
And they called Barnabas, Zeus, and Paul, Yermii, because he was the commander in the word.
The priest of Zeus, who was in front of their city, led oxen and wreaths to the gates, and wanted to make a sacrifice with the people.
But the Apostles Barnabas and Paul, hearing about this, tore their clothes and, throwing themselves at the people, spoke loudly:
men! what do you do it And we are men like you, and preach the gospel to you, that you turn from these false to the Living God, who created heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them,
Who in the past birth allowed all nations to walk in their own ways,
though I did not cease to testify about myself with good deeds, giving us rain and times of fruitfulness from heaven and fulfilling our heart's food and joy.
And, saying this, they barely convinced the people not to make sacrifices to them and to go home to everybody. Meanwhile, as they stayed there, they taught,
some Judeans came from Antioch and Iconium, and when the Apostles boldly preached, they persuaded the people to fall behind them, saying: they say nothing true, but all lie. And having aroused the people, they stoned Paul with stones and dragged him out of the city, honoring him as dead.
When the disciples gathered around him, he got up and went to the city, and the next day he retired from Barnabas to Derbe.
Having preached the gospel to this city and having acquired enough disciples, they went back to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch,
affirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting to abide in the faith, and teaching that with many sorrows we must enter the Kingdom of God.
Having ordained them presbyters for each church, they prayed with a fast and betrayed them to the Lord, in whom they believed.
Then, after going through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia,
and, having preached the word of the Lord in Perga, they descended into Attalia;
and from there they sailed to Antioch, from where they were delivered to the grace of God for the work that they fulfilled.
Arriving there and gathering the church, they told all that God had created with them and how He opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
And they stayed there a long time with the disciples.
