- Mohe Rang Do Laal
Note: This song is based on the tales of 'Lord Krishna', a loved and worshipped Hindu God. It is referring to the life of Krishna when he was growing up and in his adolescent age. Krishna loved to go to the river bank where other women would come and do their daily jobs. He was the loved one among them all. They used to dance and enjoy while Krishna would do mischief. These women were referred to as 'Gopis'. There was one Gopi in particular whose name was 'Radha' who used to love Krishna and Krishna also loved her dearly. But he used to do a lot of mischief with her. In this song, the singer is referring herself as Radha and is singing about how much love and affection she has for her beloved whom she compares to Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is known by various names such as 'Shyam' because he had dusky-complexion & 'Nandlal' because he was raised by 'Nanda' who was a cow-herder, ‘Hari’ because he takes away all that is inauspicious. Other popular names of him are 'Kanha' or 'Kanhaiya', ‘Mohan’ and even 'Gopal'. Krishna loved to eat freshly prepared buttered and he used to steal it from the homes of people where he lived, so he is often christened as 'Maakhan Chor' or 'Butter Thief'. Lord Krishna played an excellent flute and also had a peacock feather in his crown.
